[IDEA] I. offers performers a rigorous context for developing performance as musical knowledge through sustained, practice-led exchange.

 

The residency provides:

– An extended research period rather than a single short-term seminar

– Sustained exchange among participating performers and mentors

– A structured progression from artistic articulation to public presentation

– Time for listening, analysis, testing, reflection, documentation, and revision

– A framework through which embodied knowledge informs sustained artistic development

– A context in which rehearsal functions as critical artistic inquiry

– Critical engagement with the conceptual framework

– The opportunity to present work at the seventh Bled Contemporary Music Week

– Participation in an international community of early music performer-researchers

The program is intended for performers seeking not only to prepare and present repertoire, but to examine how performance emerges through relations among histories, scores, memories, bodies, instruments, technologies, institutions, spaces, ensemble practices, and situated acts of listening.
