WHO THE RESIDENCY IS FOR

 

The open call is addressed to:

 

– Renaissance and Baroque performers seeking to articulate and systematically develop artistic practices through sustained, practice-led inquiry and research

– Performers exploring historical repertoires, interpretative experimentation, artistic research, historically informed practice, and performance-based knowledge production

– Performers and ensembles seeking methodological development through international exchange, critical reflection, documentation, and multiple modes of public presentation

 

The residency welcomes established, emerging, and project-based artists working across conventional, expanded, experimental, interdisciplinary, or hybrid forms of historical performance, provided that their proposed inquiry can be developed within the program’s reflective and practice-led structure.

 

Projects may enter the residency at different stages. An artist may apply with an interpretative problem, a repertoire-centered inquiry, a developing performance, an existing interpretation requiring substantial reconsideration, or a broader framework for artistic research. Applicants may contribute specialized techniques, documentary materials, experimental methods, recordings, writings, or questions concerning historical performance practice.

 

The format requires sustained engagement across both online and on-site stages.

 

Participants should be prepared to:

 

– Articulate and contextualize their artistic practices

– Share performances, recordings, scores, texts, and pertinent working materials

– Engage critically and constructively with other participants’ practices

– Offer and receive rigorous artistic and critical feedback

– Discuss interpretative, historical, epistemological, and methodological questions

– Participate in listening, analysis, experimentation, rehearsal, documentation, and reflection

– Remain responsive to project transformation through sustained critical exchange

– Contribute to a shared working environment grounded in attentiveness, reciprocity, rigor, and responsibility

 

The program is particularly suited to participants who understand performance not merely as repertoire realization, but as an epistemic and artistic practice capable of transforming methods, collective relations, interpretative positions, and shared musical outcomes.
