ARTISTIC DEVELOPMENT

 

For projects, the residency is designed to support:

 

– The development of performances, interpretative projects, and sustained source-based artistic research

– Sustained critical exchange among participating performers and mentors

– Examination of how sources, genealogies, and traditions condition performative practice

– Rigorous interpretative, technical, and methodological critique

– Refinement of sonic, formal, conceptual, and relational dimensions

– Development of methods of artistic articulation and documentation

– Greater understanding of rehearsal as an epistemic and analytical practice

– Preparation of projects for public presentation

 

For performers and ensembles, the residency is designed to support:

 

– Deepened engagement with embodied and situated performance knowledge

– Active participation in artistic inquiry

– Expansion of historically informed methodologies

– Development of methods for listening, rehearsing, documenting, and presenting performance

– Articulation of embodied, technical, and tacit forms of knowledge

– Critical examination of agency, authority, and responsibility

– Contribution to historically informed, future-oriented Renaissance and Baroque performance

– Public presentation at an international contemporary music festival

 

For all participants, the residency provides a context in which artistic development proceeds through sustained practice, dialogue, experimentation, critical reflection, and reciprocal engagement with the work of others.
